How to Know when Your Teeth Need Extracted

Your teeth play an important role in eating and talking, and you want to keep them for as long as possible. However, there are times when a tooth extraction is unavoidable. If you’re unsure about whether or not you need a tooth extraction, read these signs to help you decide.

Your Mouth is too Small

If your mouth is too small for teeth to break through, they may become impacted and grow towards your other teeth, creating crowding. This is also often the case if you need braces. In order for the braces to be effective, you may need to have other teeth removed to make room for them to properly align your teeth.

If you Have an Infection

If a tooth has been left in a state of decay for too long, an extraction may be the best course of action to prevent the decay from spreading to other, healthy teeth. If left untreated, it may cause an infection in the other teeth which causes the need for multiple extractions.

You Have Damaged Teeth

If you have a cracked or damaged tooth, you may need to have an extraction to avoid decay if there’s nothing that can be done to save the tooth, such as a crown.

If you’re still unsure about whether or not you’re a candidate for a tooth extraction, your first meeting should be with your dentist. They’ll help you decide what course of action is best for you. For more information on tooth extraction in Apex, visit this website.
